  •  1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  •  1/2 teaspoon salt
  •  1 and 1/2 cups (3 sticks/340 g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  •  1 and 3/4 cups (350 g) granulated sugar
  •  5 large eggs
  •  1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  •  1 and 1/2 cups (360 ml) buttermilk
  •  3/4 cup sprinkles

Vanilla Buttercream Frosting

  •  1 and 1/2 cups (3 sticks/340 g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  •  1/8 teaspoon salt
  •  5-6 cups (600-700 g) powdered sugar, sifted
  •  5 tablespoons (75 ml) heavy cream
  •  1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
